About John
I'm John, and I run the editorial side of Plumber Costa Mesa. I hold an MBA in marketing, and my job here is simple to describe and slow to do: make sure every page on this site tells a Costa Mesa homeowner something true, useful and specific to where they live.
Most plumbing websites repeat the same generic advice for every city. I wanted this one to answer the questions people here actually ask. Which water district do I call when water bubbles up at the meter? What does the City require for a water heater swap? How hard is our water, really? What does the Sanitary District want before I reuse a sewer line?
I am not a plumber, and I won't pretend to be one. The repair work you book through this site is performed by independent plumbing contractors licensed by the California Contractors State License Board in the C-36 Plumbing classification. My part is the information: researching it, writing it plainly, and keeping it current.
How John checks the facts on this site
Every number you read here traces back to a page you can open yourself.
Go to the primary source
Water hardness comes from Mesa Water District's annual Consumer Confidence Report. Water heater rules come from the City of Costa Mesa's published installation standard. Sewer rules come from the Costa Mesa Sanitary District's permit guide. License rules come from the CSLB.
Open the page, not the snippet
A search result summary is not a source. Each figure is read on the original page before it goes on this site.
Date it and link it
Every page shows when it was last checked and ends with a list of its sources.
Leave out what cannot be verified
If a fact cannot be confirmed, it stays off the site. That includes prices presented as our own, response times we cannot promise, and reviews we do not have.
Correct it quickly
When a source changes, the page changes. When the research showed that one widely copied claim, 16 to 18 grains of hardness, does not match Mesa Water's 2026 report (about 6.6 grains on average), every page was written from the report instead.
